Deadline for IEDC Education Scholarships Approaching
International Economic Development Council
The International Economic Development Council is proud to offer two (2) scholarships to be applied toward the registration fee for an IEDC Economic Development Education course of the recipient's choice. SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION BY JULY 31ST TO BE CONSIDERED.

Diane Lupke, CEcD, is the President of Lupke & Associates and a long-time member of IEDC. Lupke and Associates has worked in more than 75 communities to empower residents to recognize their assets and create change in their communities. Ms. Lupke serves on the Board of Directors of IEDC.
A strong advocate for economic development initiatives in distressed communities, Ms. Lupke founded an education scholarship fund for economic development professionals working in these areas. The award recipient is able to enhance his or her knowledge in economic development through participation in IEDC's Economic Development Training Courses

The award value for each scholarship represents approximately $500. A scholarship will be awarded to an IEDC member and non-member each. Scholarship applicants should work for an organization that is based in a distressed community. Examples include, but are not limited to, community-based organizations, Main Street organizations and community development corporations.
How to Apply
Applicants are requested to write an essay (max: 3 pages) which will be reviewed by the Scholarship Subcommittee.
The essay should address the following:
• Brief description of the organization for which the applicant works and the community being served
• Brief statement of professional background and accomplishments
• Reasons for wanting to pursue the IEDC professional development program
• History of economic development courses completed through IEDC and other organizations
• In addition, please include a current resume.
Review
The IEDC Scholarship Task Force will review all submissions. The scholarship winners will be announced at the 2008 Annual Conference in Atlanta, Georgia on October 19-22, 2008.

Applicants are asked to submit an essay and resume by July 31, 2008 to:
