How can you help get quality, sustainable housing developed in your community? Learn what developers know. Developer's Toolbox: Housing Market Analysis can help. This course offered by the Bloustein Online Continuing Education Program offers a convenient, affordable and effective way to learn the complexities of market analysis.
This course explores content, methods, techniques, information sources, and presentation styles. It is designed for land planners, transportation planners, planning commissioners, community and economic development professionals and all others who need market data to make informed land use decisions.
The course goals include: Understanding why housing market studies are needed, and how they are used by developers and by public officials; learning what market information should be requested from a developer; determining the types of data that should be collected by planning staff and consultants, and where to find information; and understanding the limitations of market studies.
Graduates of this course (generally mid and senior-level professionals) have said they especially liked: "(the) reading materials and webliography." "Learning from others students - reading student response to assignments." "The final exam, I thought it pushed me to think about everything that I did read."
The course is taught by Deborah Brett, a real estate, retail and housing specialist and co-author of "Real Estate Market Analysis: A Case Study Approach." She has more than 30 years of experience in market analysis around the United States.

The course runs from January 9 to February 16. The course normally costs $270. If you are one of the first 10 students to register by credit card, you will pay only $240. Use discount code: EBEB40. We will request that this course provide 14 American Institute of Certified Planners continuing education credits.

BOCEP courses combine the best elements of online education and traditional workshops. There are no required meetings, but you can share ideas and solve problems with professionals from around the country. You get as much information as you would in a two day seminar, but have more than a month to practice what you've learned. This will help you learn more and retain more of what you learned.
