Emily Talen, Charles C. Bohl and Matthew Hardy said: ‘This journal will be an outlet for research on the created human habitat – where form, pattern and design are viewed as integral to other forms of urban inquiry, from cultural meaning to economic growth.'
Jonathan Manley, Urban Studies Publisher at Routledge, added: ‘The proliferation of research in smart growth, new urbanism and place making has created a real need for an outlet devoted to these topics. The Journal of Urbanism, guided by a team of outstanding scholars, will meet this demand and enhance Routledge's impressive list of journals in urban and environmental studies.'
