STATE HOUSING/LENDING JOBS AVAILABLE - UP TO 40 POSITIONS TO BE FILLED BY JAN 2008!

State Department of Housing and Community Development - Personnel Branch

THE OPPORTUNITY -- The California Department of Housing and Community Development plans to fill up to 40 positions in the Housing and Community Development Representative II classification by January 2008. This classification performs project management and analytical assignments related to housing, community development, and economic development. Duties may include policy and legislation development; administration of various loan and grant programs; research and preparation of reports and publications; assessment of housing and community development needs; preparation assistance and review of local housing elements and planning documents; review of regional plans; program planning, monitoring and evaluation; and technical assistance to private organizations, non-profits and local governments.

Positions currently exist within the Department of Housing and Community Development in Sacramento only.

WHY WE'RE HIRING -- California voters approved Proposition 1C on the November 2006 statewide ballot, thereby extending America's largest state-funded affordable housing assistance effort. Proposition 1C has authorized $2.85 billion in General Obligation bonds to continue several important bond-funded housing assistance programs, and begin new programs to improve infrastructure to support housing. In order to effectively administer these programs HCD was authorized to expand by approximately 100 positions. The department is looking to quickly recruit and train motivated professionals to accomplish its mission.
