What You Don't Know About The Way You Work Can Hurt You, Your Plans And Your Career
Rutgers University, Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy
Please do not be seduced by silence. Your clients and colleagues almost never tell you that your actions are breeding tension. If you're a planning director or manager, your staff will never tell you that you're not motivating them enough. And the silence from the community? That's probably not consensus – but it could be suspicion.
The Bloustein Online Continuing Education Program (BOCEP) can help you build the skills to make you a successful planner. Plenty of smart professionals have good ideas that go nowhere. Successful planners know the nuances of working well with clients, colleagues and communities.
From June 20 to July 28, BOCEP is offering three courses focused on professional practice: Cultural Competency, Effective Client Relations, and Improving Staff Performance. All are taught by Leonardo Vazquez, AICP/PP. Leo directs the Professional Development Institute of Rutgers University's Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy. He is also a creator of The Leading Institute, which offers innovative and effective leadership development programs. Leo is an experienced community and economic development planner with special expertise in management and strategic communications.
All BOCEP courses are interactive, high quality, affordable and convenient. Through online discussion boards and weekly live webconferences, participants can share ideas with senior and mid-level professionals from around the United States. Our courses are taught at a graduate level, and at the quality you would expect from one of the nation's top planning schools. Because courses run for a month, you have the time to practice what you learn and share your insights in class. (This will help you retain more of what you learn.) BOCEP courses cost $160 to $260, depending on the discount you can receive. Planetizen readers pay only $235 (use discount code 6874f). There are no required meetings, and you can participate in your class from almost any computer with an Internet connection.
Never taken an online course? Don't worry. Most of our students are "newbies," and more than 90% of students surveyed said they would recommend our program to their colleagues.
