COMPACT FOR A SUSTAINABLE VENTURA COUNTY
Ventura County Civic Alliance hosts a community workshop
CAMARILLO, Calif.-What will Ventura County look like in the next 20 to 30 years?
The Ventura County Civic Alliance (VCCA) is hosting a workshop where community members are invited to share their vision for the county's future. The Compact for a Sustainable Ventura County Workshop will be 6-9:30 p.m., June 7 at California State University Channel Islands, Malibu 100 Building.
"This workshop is a chance for community members to express their thoughts of what they'd like to see and to express concerns of what they believe may happen in the county's future," said Rebecca Evans, executive director of VCCA. "It is open to anyone who would like to participate in regional planning for a healthy and sustainable future for Ventura County."
The workshop will engage community members to develop a set of possible scenarios for the future of the county based on alternative land-use, housing, transportation and economic development patterns and policies.
Participants will gather in groups of eight and use a base map of the county. Working from this base map, development-type chips will be added as participants create their own ideal growth scenarios for the county. Each scenario will be recorded and used to create three alternative scenarios for testing.
The workshop was created in partnership with the Ventura Council of Governments, the Southern California Association of Governments and Fregonese Calthorpe Associates and Solimar Research Group.
