Restoration 2007 Conference Focuses On Leadership As Key Ingredient In Post-Disaster Recovery
ICMA
ICMA, the premier local government leadership and management organization, will present Restoration 2007: Innovation, Networks and Leadership for Post-Disaster Recovery at the Sheraton New Orleans May 2 through 4. This national conference concentrates on how to foster community redevelopment and revitalization following a disaster.
"The critical element in restoring disaster-impacted communities is leadership, said Bob O'Neill, ICMA Executive Director. "This conference will provide both the educational programs and the networking opportunities to get a clearer picture of leadership strategies that work."
Restoration 2007 will feature educational, networking, and technical assistance activities focused on building leadership, sharing innovative practices, and establishing networks among government, private sector and nonprofit organizations engaged in preparing for and recovering from disasters. The conference is designed to create new approaches and to constructively critique old ones; develop position papers; jump start networking opportunities among participants; facilitate real estate deal making; and provide traditional learning opportunities on cutting edge topics.
New this year is the Restoration Transaction Forum. Complementing the Restoration 2007 Conference, the Transaction Forum focuses on leadership, innovation, and networks for post-disaster recovery, and provides a venue for property owners to showcase up to three sites to a captive audience of developers, financiers, and investors. The properties do not need to have been affected by a disaster to be eligible for this property redevelopment event. The Restoration Transaction Forum is a unique networking event to learn about new real estate opportunities and to find developers looking for their next project. Site owners can now submitted detailed descriptions of properties for lease or sale and the communities in which they are located. All properties should be submitted by April 18, 2007.
Online registration is open! Register before April 13, 2007 and save $50.
