Citizens Invited To Plan Their Future Online With MetroQuest
Envision Sustainability Tools, Inc.
Vancouver, BC – February 26, 2007
Envision Sustainability Tools Inc. is pleased to announce the release of MetroQuest Online, a web-based scenario animator that citizens can use to create "what-if" scenarios about the future of their region.
As the populations of cities grow, issues like air quality, traffic congestion, government spending and population density become increasingly important. With MetroQuest Online, users can experiment with different policy options and see if they can create a future that meets their priorities.
MetroQuest Online is a companion tool to MetroQuest, created by Envision Sustainability Tools Inc. for use in public workshops. While MetroQuest workshops have the benefit of live facilitators and live community discussion, the online version complements it by letting citizens experiment with policy options and results on their own. This lets workshop participants stay engaged with the issues afterwards, and also reaches citizens who are not inclined to attend workshops.
The Canadian city of Guelph recently installed the software on their website, configured with geographic data and other local information so that it displays future scenarios about this growing city and the surrounding area. It was renamed GuelphQuest Online for their use, and it is available at Guelph.ca/GuelphQuest. Guelph is also using the software in public workshops.
"We are excited to release this online version of our successful scenario animation software. This tool will many cities around the world interact with their citizens via the Internet" notes Envision's VP of Business Development, Matthew Colclough, "We think that MetroQuest Online will be a key part of any region's stakeholder engagement in the very near future, allowing them to educate and engage the public and provide them with an opportunity for input into the planning process."
More information about MetroQuest, including links to the online version and an animated demonstration of the software, is available at QuestForTheFuture.com
