Many Scholarships Available For Leading From The Middle 2007
The Leading Institute & Rutgers University
Leading from the Middle, an innovative program that helps urban planners and community development professionals be more effective and influential, is offering large scholarships to this year's program. Leading from the Middle already offers more at a lower fee than other leadership development programs. It is the only program designed by and for planning and development professionals that provides training, peer coaching, one-to-one executive coaching, and access to a growing network of like-minded professionals.
The program runs from March to December 2007. There are classes in the Union Square neighborhood of Manhattan, and at Rutgers University in downtown New Brunswick. It is for any mid-level or mid-career professional who works to revitalize, protect, or strengthen communities (whether they are neighborhoods, municipalities or regions.) Our graduates include project managers, senior planners, division directors and similar professionals from a wide variety of public, private and nonprofit sector organizations throughout New York and New Jersey. Leading from the Middle has helped them be more effective at managing conflict, leading groups and managing change. You do NOT have to be a "professional planner" or work for a community development corporation to be eligible. If you have at least five years experience working to benefit communities, you are eligible to attend.
Program fees are based on a sliding scale of $250 to $1,250. You can get scholarships of 10% to 60%. This is thanks to the Center for Government Services and the Professional Development Institute of Rutgers University's Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy.
Center for Government Services Scholarships are available to nonprofit and public sector professionals who live or work in New Jersey. Professional Development Institute Scholarships are available to nonprofit and public sector professionals, regardless of where they live or work.
The scholarship application date is February 16. Final date for all applications is March 1. To learn more, please visit the Leading from the Middle website at http://www.theleadinginstitute.org/lm. Or contact Director Leonardo Vazquez at [email protected] or 732-932-3822, x711.
