Request For Proposals - Downtown Multi-Modal Transportation Center
City of Raleigh - Department of City Planning
Raleigh is North Carolina's capital city and home to several universities and corporate headquarters. The City consistently ranks in the top 20 nationally for business, entrepreneurs, creativity, and a knowledgeable workforce. Over the past decade downtown has reemerged as a prime location for new residential, office, and entertainment-oriented development. In the last three years a total of over $2 billion dollars of new investment has been announced, planned or underway in the heart of the city, including 500,000 square feet of office and retail space and 2,500 housing units.
The resurgence of downtown development activity has increased interest in focusing a number of transportation enhancements and investments on an area where several important rail corridors converge. The Downtown Multi-Modal Transportation Center (MTC) is proposed at this convergence of rail corridors and is envisioned as a facility that will conveniently link the multiple transportation modes from several proposed platforms. The design of the center and a framework to guide development patterns and enhance the circulation network within the area surrounding the MTC are important considerations.
The City of Raleigh Department of City Planning invites professional planning, design, and engineering service firms to submit proposals for the preparation of a plan and development strategy for the MTC as described in the Request for Proposals. The request includes consideration of the MTC design as well as a development strategy for properties within and in the vicinity of the MTC location.
Proposals must be received no later than 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 10, 2007 in order to be considered.
