Bloustein Online Offers Courses In Environmental Planning, Historic Preservation Law Or Urban Design
Rutgers University, Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy
Through BOCEP courses, you can get a great deal of knowledge and share ideas with experienced planning professionals. We've served more than 200 registrants since April 2005, and more than 90% of students surveyed said they would recommend our courses to their colleagues in planning. Bloustein Online Continuing Education for Planners provides instructor-guided, interactive courses. These are not CD-ROM or "self-paced" courses. Every course has enough students to generate diverse and interesting conversations. Classes are small enough for you to get a fair chance to engage with classmates and instructors. Some programs charge more than $1,000 per course. Our courses are $250 each, and Planetizen subscribers can get $50 discount for each course (Use Promotion Code: T4189)
BOCEP has several courses in urban design and placemaking, smart growth, planning law and environmental planning. We're offering six courses beginning in late May and June. Busy? No problem. There are no scheduled meetings in these courses:
It's fine to specialize, but the clients and communities we serve expect us to be smart in all areas of planning. If you feel you should know more such issues as sustainability and open space, consider taking Environmental Planning. (May 31 to July 8)
It takes more than design plans to protect historic resources. Historic Preservation Law (May 31 to July 8) will help you build the knowledge and skills to develop regulations that will implement and sustain preservation plans.
If you're already an environmental planner, or a planner working in flood-prone areas, consider taking Avoiding Disasters: Managing Water Resources. (June 14 to July 23) This course explores planning techniques to protect wetlands and floodplains.
Urban Design for Safety and Security (May 31 to July 8) explores urban design techniques to help sites and communities thwart criminals and terrorists. There are plenty of ways to have a safe environment without having to build bunkers or gated communities. Learn how in this course.
We're also offering Long-Range Planning (May 31 to July 8) and Economic Development for Community Revitalization (June 14 to July 23). Learn more about the courses and their instructors, or register at http://policy.rutgers.edu/bocep/courses.html
