Want High Quality, Convenient And Affordable Continuing Education? Try BOCEP
Rutgers University, Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy
The Bloustein Online Continuing Education for Planners program turned one year old in April. What a year!
*More than 150 planning and other professionals have taken BOCEP courses. The students work of all levels (from project planner to planning director) and come from around the United States. We've also served students from Hong Kong, the Philippines, Italy, England and Grand Cayman, as well as two American soldiers in Iraq.
*We've become the leading provider of online professional development in urban design and planning law. We have the most choices of interactive online courses for planning professionals.
*Course evaluations are highly positive. More than 90% of professionals who took a BOCEP class would recommend the program to planning colleagues at all levels. Why? Maybe because more than 90% said their instructors were well prepared, attentive and responsive and that the eCollege system that we use for classrooms is easy to use. More than 75% said they learned a lot in their courses and that the BOCEP model encouraged student learning.
*We're getting better. In our first semester (April to August 2005), about half of the students said their course "met or exceeded all their expectations." That figure rose to more than 62% for students who took classes between October and April 2006. More than 90% of students said their course met at least some of their expectations. In 2005, about 70% of students were satisfied with our customer service. This year, 90% are.
BOCEP courses are designed and led by experienced practitioners, and are taught at a graduate level. They are 5 ½ weeks long, and you can participate at any time from almost any computer with an Internet connection. There are no scheduled meetings. In late May and June, we are offering six courses: Environmental Planning, Urban Design for Safety and Security, Managing Water Resources, Long-Range Planning, Historic Preservation Law, and Economic Development for Community Revitalization. Fees are normally $250 per course, but you can take advantage of a Spring special that provides a $50 discount per course. Please use promotion code: T4189
