Admission Open for Commercial District Revitalization Training and Certification Institute (Nov. 1st deadline)
National Trust for Historic Preservatoin
Through its Certification in Professional Main Street™ Management Institute, the National Trust Main Street Center certifies professionals' ability to manage commercial district revitalization programs using the National Trust's Main Street Four Point Approach TM, which is a community-driven, comprehensive methodology used to revitalize older, traditional business districts. The National Trust Main Street Center is a program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
Upon successful completion, graduates will receive CMSM credentials (Certified Main Street Mangers). Since 1989, the National Trust has certified over 200 economic development and historic preservation professionals.

Professionals will:
** build their professional skills to manage commercial district revitalization and resolve complex problems;
** explore current revitalization issues presented by industry experts;
** network with other seasoned professionals; and
** receive Certified Main Street Manager credentials (CMSM).
==== Who Should Apply ====
The Certification Institute is designed for economic development, community development and historic preservation professionals with at least three years of field experience managing the revitalization of a downtown or neighborhood commercial district. The experience does not have to be consecutive or with one organization or initiative.
==== Institute Curriculum ====
The Certification Institute curriculum taught over two weeks comprises four units: Economic Restructuring, Promotion, Design and Organization. Each unit is handled as a separate course, with an admissions exam, participation in a 2 ½-day training, and final unit exam. Participants who pass all four unit exams will graduate from the Institute and receive their credentials.

2006 Session (Organization and Promotion units)
Feb. 6 – Feb. 10, 2006.
2007 Session (Economic restructuring and Design units)
Feb. 5 – Feb. 9, 2007
All sessions held at the National Trust's Washington, DC headquarters.
