Call for Entries - Commercial District Revitalization Awards for Communities, Leaders and Businesses
National Trust for Historic Preservation
Annually, the National Trust Main Street Center -- a program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation -- recognizes exceptional and innovative accomplishments in the revitalization of historic and traditional commercial districts through its National Main Street Awards, which includes two awards:
1) Great American Main Street Awards; and
2) Main Street Leadership Awards.
=== 2006 Great American Main Street Awards ===
National Trust Main Street Center is soliciting applications by individuals or organizations on behalf of a historic, traditional or neighborhood commercial district that has demonstrated exceptional and innovative achievements in the commercial district revitalization using a community-driven, historic preservation-based approach. Annually, the National Trust presents awards to five (5) commercial districts. Each winning commercial district receives an award package worth over $4,000, including a $2,500 cash prize. Applicants do not have to be members of the National Main Street Network (www.mainstreet.org/members) or a coordinating Main Street program.
=== 2006 Main Street Leadership Awards ===
The National Trust Main Street Center is also accepting nominations for its 2006 Main Street Leadership Awards, which recognizes leaders in the preservation and revitalization of historic and traditional commercial districts. Individuals or organizations may nominate businesses and industries (Business category), individuals (Main Street Hero category) or elected officials, public agencies or non-profits (Civic category) that have made a positive impact on or implemented innovative solutions for the commercial district revitalization.

The National Trust Main Street Center, celebrating its 25th anniversary, has recognized the commercial district revitalization achievements of 55 communities in 30 states and 12 leaders who have supported such efforts.
