Bloustein Online Continuing Education for Planners Offers More Courses this Fall
Rutgers University, Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy
Bloustein Online Continuing Education for Planners (BOCEP) is offering more and new courses between October and April. There are also special discounts for planners in the nonprofit sector and professionals who serve the planning profession.
We are offering 13 courses in three tracks: Urban Design and Placemaking, Land Use Law and Legal Issues, and 3E Planning (Environment, Equity and Economy). The courses cover such subjects as environmental planning, form-based zoning, effective client relations, urban design, and land use law.
All courses are four weeks long and are available over the Internet. There are no required meetings. You learn by reading assigned materials and engaging in dialogues with the instructor and other students. Most of the students spend about two to five hours online per week. Course evaluations from our first semester showed that 74% of students "learned a great deal in this course" and 82% said the "online discussions with my colleagues helped me learned the material." About 96% said the online classroom is "easy to use."
Students can receive a Certificate of Completion if they complete three courses in a track.
All of the instructors and almost all of the students are working in the planning profession as practicing planners, instructors or officials. More than 94% of students surveyed said they would recommend the BOCEP program to planners of any level.
The courses cost $250 each, and there are a number of discounts. Planners in the nonprofit sector get discounts of between $50 and $100 per course. We also want to support those who volunteer to help the planning profession with a discount of $50 per course. Planetizen subscribers receive a discount of $25 per course. Please use Discount Code: F0883 to receive the Planetizen discount.
BOCEP is offered by the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy at Rutgers University, one of the leading planning schools in the United States. Since its launch in April 2005, BOCEP has served 77 professionals from around the country and the world.
