This summer, learn better ways to turn talk into action
Rutgers University, Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy
You know how to plan. How effective are you at turning your ideas into reality? If you would like to learn more effective and efficient ways to turn talk into action, please consider enrolling in Strategic Planning and Implementation.
Strategic Planning and Implementation is an Internet-based professional development course offered through the Bloustein Online Continuing Education for Planners (BOCEP) program of Rutgers University's Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy. The course runs from July 11 to August 15, but you have until July 15 to enroll.
The five-week course will guide students through the steps in strategic planning and implementation, including getting the right types of support for the project, dealing with resistance, managing the process and dealing with mistakes. Planners are welcome – in fact, encouraged – to talk about their own projects that they would like to see implemented.
There are no meeting schedules or locations; students can participate at any time from any computer with an Internet connection.
The instructors – Karen Phillips and Leonardo Vazquez, AICP/PP -- are experts in getting things done. New York City Planning Commissioner Karen Phillips was a founder and former CEO of Abyssinian Development Corporation, one of the most successful community development corporations in New York City. Her work has brought in millions of dollars in residential and commercial development to Harlem, and impacted the lives of thousands of New York City residents.
Leonardo Vazquez founded several professional development and knowledge management initiatives in management, planning and community development. He created and directs APA/LeadershipPlenty, a unique leadership development program for mid-level professionals in urban planning and community development. He also created and managed The Nonprofit Management Knowledge Hub and the Milano Management Information Exchange. He also directs BOCEP.
Strategic Planning and Implementation is one of three courses BOCEP offers in July. The others are Redevelopment Law and Legal Strategies and Transportation Planning for Placemaking. Each course costs $250, but Planetizen subscribers receive a discount of $50 per course. Please use Promotion Code: PLAN5015.
