Tom Merrell, President of Civic Solutions, Inc. recently announced the addition of a newly formed division within the company aimed solely at assisting communities with their urban revitalization needs. "In an era where we were seeing greater diversification of private consulting firms, I saw a need to provide small to mid-sized downtowns a focused team of planners and designers whose hearts and souls were into "re-designing" and "re-tooling". We don't want to be a firm that offers everything to everyone."

Heading up the new division, aptly called 'Downtown Solutions", Merrell hired the person whom he felt shared his vision and could bring over 25 years and 100 downtowns of experience to the table. That person is Mark Brodeur, a seasoned urban design/planning specialist who has been referred to as "Doctor Downtown" by several of his clients. Brodeur currently serves as a Board member to the California Downtown Association and has won several local and national awards for his work.

The new division is busy assisting the communities of Hemet, Chula Vista, Yorba Linda and others with their urban revitalization needs.
