The Western Riverside Council of Governments will hold its annual General Assembly on Thursday, June 30, 2005, 5:30 p.m. at the Morongo Casino, Resort and Spa in Cabazon, California. WRCOG, with 15 member jurisdictions, serves California's fastest growing county. The WRCOG subregion has a population of 1.4 million, and with 800,000 more to call Western Riverside County "home" in the next two decades. WRCOG provides a range of services to its member agencies, and is perhaps best know as the administrator of the nations largest multijurisdictional regional road fee program, the Transportation Uniform Mitigation Fee Program (TUMF). TUMF will raise $2.5 billion in revenues during the next 20 years to construct needed arterials, intersections, interchanges and provide capital for transit in Western Riverside County. WRCOG also partners with a number of regional and state agencies to develop plans and implementation mechanisms to address the issue of growth, with a specific goal of accommodating future growth and improving the quality of life in the subregion.

WRCOG works with member jursidictions on issues related to housing, economy, environment, solid waste and air quality. The Agency serves as the administrative arm to the Western Riverside County Multiple Species Habitat Conservation Plan (MSHCP) which will in a coordinated fashion acquire more than 150,000 acres of critical habitat and open space land in western Riverside County during the next several decades.
