The City of Gresham has a challenging opportunity for a Senior City Planner to staff the City's first Urban Renewal District, with a focus on neighborhood revitalization and job creation in a diverse community. Gresham seeks a skilled and seasoned professional capable of working in a complex environment to lead the implementation of the plan.

Under the Direction of a Principal Planner, the Senior Planner will manage urban renewal implementation, including planning, priority setting, project coordination, community and partner communications, staffing of the Redevelopment Commission and related advisory committees, project analysis and work plan/budget development. Urban renewal will involve a wide range of complex tasks, including management of capital project development and assessment of development options and community development programs. The Senior Planner will oversee work of consultants and contractors. Consensus building and good communication skills are important assets to bring to the position.

Qualifications include bachelor's degree in planning, public administration or a related field plus at least four years of demonstrated planning experience in one or more of the following areas: urban renewal, project management/coordination, economic development/business retention, community revitalization, urban design/comprehensive planning. Experience with Urban Renewal in Oregon and in working in multi-lingual, multi-cultural communties highly desirable. Must be able to understand and analyze/interpret development pro-formas, proposals, market studies, and feasibility studies. Bi-lingual Spanish or Russian desirable.
