Bill Lennertz and Steve Coyle will draw upon his experience from over 150 Charrettes to provide you with an overview of the Dynamic Planning and Charrette process that includes answers to the following questions.

* What are the most successful public involvement processes?
* How does the Charrette work?
* When should a Charrette be used?

The Problem:
Establishing public trust and dealing with NIMBYs are often the biggest challenges in working to create healthy communities. The National Charrette Institute (NCI) Charrette is a public participatory process that has facilitated transformative community change by breaking countless deadlocks, leading to thousands of acres of Smart Growth development.

Anybody involved with community planning and development will benefit from learning about this powerful collaborative planning process. Elected officials, planning staff, developers, concerned citizens and others will all learn valuable tools and techniques that will improve their daily work.
