The City of Great Falls is searching for a motivated and visionary leader to become the new Planning Director. The Planning Department assists the City-County Planning Board in carrying out its advisory duties and is also tasked with the responsibility of providing planning services to the City of Great Falls and an unincorporated area of Cascade County surrounding the City. The Director supervises a staff of 8-10 with a total annual budget of $750K. The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of sound planning principles, of modern growth management and regulatory tools and techniques. The ability to guide and direct staff, form partnerships with City and County department heads and the business community, and to build effective communication among the City-County Planning Board, City Commission, and County elected officials is important. Minimum qualifications include a degree in planning or closely related field (masters preferred) and at least seven years progressively responsible experience including supervision and management. Salary mid 50s – 60s.
