The University of Southern California School of Policy, Planning, and Development invites applications for a visiting faculty appointment in community economic development. The appointment is expected to be at any rank (full professor to instructor level), depending on qualifications, and is for a one-year term. Both senior faculty on sabbatical and early career scholars are invited to apply. The preferred starting date for the position is August 20, 2003, but a later starting date may be negotiated.

Applicants should hold a doctoral degree in a relevant discipline, or be ABD. Candidates should be able to demonstrate teaching and research expertise in issues related to community economic development problems, especially in strategies that utilize the combined or separate strengths of the government, nonprofit, and business sectors. The School of Policy, Planning, and Development has substantial teaching and research programs related to community economic development, including the federally chartered Center for Economic Development, and the Tomas Rivera Policy Institute (TRPI), the nationally renowned Latino studies organization that has recently joined with USC.

Teaching will occur primarily in the Master of Planning and Master of Public Policy programs, with an additional urban course in the undergraduate program in Policy, Planning, and Development. Teaching load for the year is four courses, or as negotiated (e.g., two courses with a sabbatical).
