Charrettes 101: Best Practices and Lessons Learned
This NCI seminar is taught by Bill Lennertz who will draw upon his in-the-trenches experience from over 150 Charrettes. Bill will teach what a Charrette is, who can benefit from the process, when it can be used, and how it works.
Following this one-day seminar and course notebook, participants will have learned:
* The theory of facilitating transformative community change
* What a Charrette is and when it can be used
* The tools and techniques for planning and running a Charrette
* Lessons learned from the most difficult Charrette stories
* How to design Charrettes that: build the public's trust by making them co-authors of the plan; turn NIMBYs into champions by transforming their preconceptions and providing win-win solutions; get supporters out of the house by making Charrettes involvement relevant and worthwhile.
