'Evolving Towards a Sustainable Future' Student Planning Conference at San Jose State University

I would like to extend an invitation to Student and professionals alike to attend the California Statewide Student Planning Conference that will be held on the campus of San Jose State University, Saturday, Sept. 28, 2002. The theme of the conference is "Evolving Towards a Sustainable Future." This is an exciting time in planning, as we engage in different ideas and concepts of the way sustainability and growth will impact our future in planning in the state of California. As APA moves forward in their policy for Smart Growth, California is taking that step forward as we engage in policies and issues that impact urban development, sustainability, and land use. This will be an exciting conference that will offer tours of Redevelopment Areas of Downtown San Jose, feature Janet Stone, the Executive Director of the Greenbelt Alliance of the South Bay, as the keynote speaker and offer students a roundtable discussion about working in the private vs. public sector. The all day event will offer everyone the opportunity to meet fellow students and professionals from across the state and give them an opportunity to experience the latest issues in planning. We will also be offering attending students the opportunity to win free registration to the Cal State APA Conference in San Diego.

There will be a $5 admission fee to attend the conference plus an additional fee for the conference meal package; this includes a networking breakfast, lunch and dinner. However the admission fee can be waived in place of volunteering to help out at the conference.
