The Town of Manchester, a small Vermont town with an award-winning Planning and Zoning Department, seeks a competent, dedicated individual to serve as Zoning Administrator. Manchester is a beautiful, dynamic town with many interesting land use issues and challenges, and opportunities for professional growth. The Zoning Administrator is a ‘front line' position and many different responsibilities, including considerable public contact, research and advice to individuals and Boards, review of zoning and sign applications, inspection of properties, and enforcement of bylaws. This individual may also be assigned other special projects as needed for the Town. Desirable qualifications include one or more degrees in land use planning or a related field, 3 years of experience in land use related issues, knowledge and understanding of Vermont land use law, a demonstrated ability to work effectively with a wide variety of persons on sensitive and controversial issues, and a demonstrated ability to work in an efficient, self directed manner within a supportive team environment.
