'How to Design and Run a Successful Charrette' Course to be held in Atlanta, May 16-17
National Charrette Institute
The National Charrette Institute (NCI) announces the next two day program, "How to Design and Run a Successful Charrette", at Piedmont Park, Atlanta - May 16-17 - with special guest, NCI Board Member Victor Dover.
The program will be held at Piedmont Park Conservancy Education Complex, Azalea Room (400 Park Drive), Atlanta. This training will also be a beta course where we offer a reduced attendance fee in exchange for attendees' assistance in critiquing NCI's curriculum and delivery.
Tom Walsh of Tunnell-Spangler & Associates is assisting in our Atlanta program. If you know anybody interested in attending the Atlanta training, or who would like to help us organize the program, please let me know. You can visit our web site:
Subsequent programs are scheduled in Austin – May 30-31, and Orlando – June 27-28. Please contact NCI for more information.
NCI recently completed its first training last week in San Francisco, a two-day course, "How to Design and Run a Successful Charrette". We hosted a diverse group of sixteen public and private planners, facilitators and developers who helped us improve the training's organization and sequencing. Public facilitator Kristen Pickus of Moore Iacofano Goltsman, Inc., assisted in a well-received session on public outreach techniques. We used our Pleasant Hill BART Station Charrette, the K2 of Charrettes for LCA, as the training's Case Study.
As soon as NCI receives its tax exempt status and sufficient funding, it intends to offer Charrettes for qualifying non-profit and governmental organizations, focusing, in part, on "affordable neighborhoods", and assisted by New Urbanist practioners throughout the US.
