EDRA Place Research Award for "Growing Up in Cities"
Project for Public Spaces
In 1997, Ilaria Salvadori - Design Director at Project for Public Spaces - conducted a participatory design project with children of Mexican and Cambodian immigrants in Oakland's Fruitvale neighborhood, California.
Her work was part of the larger international project "Growing Up in Cities" and is featured in Growing Up in an Urbanising World, a UNESCO publication.
The book, and the research that went into it, has just won the EDRA (Environmental Design Research Association) place research award.
