RENEW NANAIMO: 2002, by urban planners Roger Kemble and Charles Christopherson, is an urban design proposal of ideas to turn the economic fortunes of this beautifully situated coastal city around.
It decribes the problem in terms local media and politics seems shy to address, offering an essential economic stategy.
The proposal includes colourfully illustrated ideas and discourse that may lead the way to renewal of a decaying downtown in the context of the city within the urban containment boundaries, including a 1,050 acre wilderness park, and the littoral regional district.
