The program will start in the Village of Ossining with plans to expand in the greater Hudson River region.

A pilot program funded by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) Clean Transportation Prize initiative will offer discounts on electric bikes for residents of the Village of Ossining in New York State, according to a report in River Journal.
As the article explains, “The pilot program, initially launching in the Village of Ossining, will offer a point-of-sale voucher covering $1,000 off the cost of select e-bikes, along with critical safety equipment. Following insights gained from the pilot, the program aims to expand to select neighboring communities in Westchester County.”
The program is part of Project MOVER, an initiative designed to provide “transformative, affordable active transportation options.” The program also includes an e-bike sharing system and an upcoming e-bike lending library. “The pilot will initially focus on the Village of Ossining, and if successful, will be fully launched in participating Rivertown communities along the Hudson River later in the project.”
In recent years, states and cities are starting e-bike rebate programs to encourage sustainable transportation by subsidizing the cost of bikes and equipment. Many programs are so popular — and underfunded — that all vouchers are claimed within minutes.
