People who lost families in the 9/11 attacks are staging a rally to protest rebuilding on the site where the towers touch the earth.
"The Coalition of 9/11 Families is staging the demonstration, one day before the second anniversary of the terrorist attack, to publicize their campaign to preserve the towers' footprints. They want nothing built on the bedrock below, unless it relates to the memorial... Plans for the site do preserve the approximate boundaries of the towers - to an extent. A memorial will occupy that space about three stories above bedrock. But the plans could allow infrastructure and other development to encroach on the footprints down to the bedrock. The distinction is important to some families, who consider the bedrock a sacred cemetery for the nearly 2,800 people who died."
