The public-private partnership is a massive expansion of the city’s entertainment district.
Dom DiFurio reports that plans for a new hotel and convention center in the entertainment district of Arlington, Texas, are moving forward. The project will also include residential units, office space, restaurants, and retail.
The project involves $810 million in investment, says DiFurio. "The city estimates the entertainment district project will create more than 3,000 jobs, $3.9 billion in taxable sales and $2.8 billion in lodging sales over 30 years. It could be completed as early as 2023."
Officials say the project will be a tax generator that will support other city services, notes DiFurio. "With the Texas Live entertainment complex and Live! by Loews hotel now open, Arlington Mayor Jeff Williams said this is the right time for the city to welcome further investment in the entertainment district."
