Construction on several new rapid bus lines will begin in 2024.
According to a CBS News article by Kasey Richardson, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) announced a new set of bus rapid transit (BRT) routes in the Denver area. The new routes are part of the department’s 10 Year Plan, Richardson adds. The agency is “planning, designing and will build BRT routes on sections of Federal Boulevard, Colorado Boulevard and eventually Colfax Avenue east of I-225 in the Denver region.”
Agency officials say BRT will make service faster, more reliable, and more accessible than traditional bus service. “The service is also expected to help prevent crashes involving pedestrians, cyclist[sic] and vehicles on heavily congested roads in urban areas.”
