According to a press release from Foster + Partners, the company, in partnership with Arup, was selected by the California High-Speed Rail Authority (CA HSR) to design the first four stations on the long-awaited West Coast rail line.

The release states, “Foster + Partners and Arup are collaborating on planning, architecture, and engineering for the four new stations that will serve as models of design for stations planned along the entire 500-mile Los Angeles/Anaheim to San Francisco system.”

The first operable line on the CA HSR system is expected to launch operations between 2030 and 2033, but the beleaguered project has faced cost overruns and delays throughout its history. In 2022, the state approved $4.2 billion in additional funding for the Bakersfield-to-Merced segment of the line.
