When G20 leaders met in November 2020, they were deeply concerned about the pandemic and its destabilizing effects on global, national, and local economies. The meeting’s outcome document, which expressed leaders’ commitments to building back better, recognized cities’ important roles as strong partners with nations in supporting the G20’s goals.
