Bus riders learning the ropes of the redesigned Tulsa Transit bus routes will get a free ride this September.
"The transit board approved on Tuesday free fares Sept. 23–29. Tulsa Transit General Manager Ted Rieck said the overhaul will be an improvement, but it will affect every route," Matt Trotter reports for Public Radio Tulsa. The agency, which has redesigned the routes to better coordinate transfers and to create designated bus stops, hopes the free fare week will encourage riders to try the new service and see how it works.
The city expects to lose about $22,500 in ticket revenue, an amount they should be able to cover with federal funds.
