Mayors from Edmond, Oklahoma City, Norman, Del City, and Midwest City signed off on the deal to create the new regional transportation authority, called the Regional Transportation Authority of Central Oklahoma (RTA). According to Chappell the RTA's primary goal is to connect the region with public transit.
