Apply NowStreetsblogUSA seeks a summer intern to support one of the nation’s leading and most long-standing advocacy journalism outfits covering the movement for transportation reform in America.
This fully remote, contract position will work closely with Streetsblog USA’s team to help produce daily news, analysis, opinion, and social media content, in addition to administrative and technical support to make our site the best it can be. Projects may include writing (including byline opportunities), research, data visualization, audio/video content production, simple back-end website clean-up, and anything else that meets our needs and your unique skill set.
This position will be available from June 1 to August 15 at a rate of $16.50 an hour, for a maximum of 15 hours per week, on a flexible schedule between the hours of 8am and 5pm ET, Monday through Friday.
The ideal candidate will be:
- A current student at an accredited undergraduate or graduate program, ideally but not necessarily in a field related to journalism, communications, or the built environment professions
- A strong writer, communicator, and social media native
- Passionate about increasing access to biking, walking, transit, and other non-automotive modes of transportation and providing a just transition away from universal car dependency
- Committed to exploring transportation issues through the lens of diversity, equity, inclusion, intersectionality, accessibility, sustainability, and mobility justice
- Organized and able to complete tasks independently on deadline without in-person supervision
- Comfortable interviewing sources by phone, zoom and email
