Ranking the '10 Most Exciting Suburbs'

Ranking suburbs on metrics of excitement? That’s a zesty response to the suburb-bashing parlance of the times, and the Movoto Real Estate Blog has done just that.

When Randy Nelson writes, “They’re shining beacons of the boring life, where the biggest thrills include mowing lawns on the weekend and picking the kids up from school on time,” it seems the Internet has produced yet another familiar requiem for the suburbs. But then: “Only that’s totally untrue.”

The list ranks 140 suburbs by ranking metrics like “Live music venues per capita” and “Percentage of restaurants that are fast food (the lower the better).”

Two Boston-area suburbs lead the list, but suburbs in California and Florida also did well.
