How To Subscribe
The term "Podcasting" is a combination of the words "iPod" and "broadcasting". You do not need an iPod or another portable MP3 player to listen to podcasts. You can listen to podcasts on your audio-enabled computer either directly through your web browser (if it supports that option) or using a podcast receiving software program. For more information about podcasting see Wikipedia: Podcasting.
Step 1: Get the software
Install the software that will find the latest episode and automatically download it to your computer. Try these free programs:
Wikipedia has a list of many more "podcatchers".
Step 2: Subscribe to the Planetizen Podcast
You will need to add the "feed" of the podcast to your podcatcher. For the Planetizen Podcast, the feed address is: http://www.planetizen.com/podcast/feed. Copy and paste this address into your podcast software. The details of this step will depend on your software. Look for "Subscribe" or "Add" buttons in your podcatcher.
Step 3: Listen
When a new podcast show becomes available, your software will automatically download it. You can then listen to this episode on your computer or transfer it to your portable player to listen to later.
Our podcasts are generally 5-10 minutes long. File sizes of MP3 files are expected to be around 5 MB or less.
